E R I N + R O B E R T

It’s hard for me to come to terms with the fact that my last Alabama wedding before I move to Italy is already finished. But what better way to finish than with Erin and Robert and the day and place they chose to say their vows.
It has become very clear that Erin and I are drawn to the same things artistically. So when her very first sneak photo to post, of all the ones I sent her, was this one below - it was confirmed, I should have stolen her from Robert when I had the chance!
Deep black and white edits, whispy, fly-away hairs in the breeze, soft touches, low light, and maybe a bit of camera motion. Almost all the ingredients for a perfectly romantic capture - and the final ingredient? Two lovebirds, newly wedded, enjoying the warmth of each other’s touch minutes after their formal promises to love each other till they leave this earth.
After prayers for dry weather were answered, the weekend unfolded above a misty blue reflection of winter lake water on a neural hillside backdrop. Incredible floor to ceiling walls of clear glass set the scene for a sunlit room of happy gals getting each other dolled up for the festivities of December 19th. But Erin’s glow and anticipation were the only aromas evident among all the motion in the Glass House. I could sense that she trusted my eye to capture the emotion of the day - and that trust allowed me to move freely and with intention.
Robert was surrounded by a sea of black ties who proved to be the source of laughter till the very end of the night. There were serious moments of prayer over the upcoming marriage. But those groomsmen took any and every chance to poke fun at him and remind him why he chose them to be by his side on the most important and exhilarating day.
Family on both sides showed so much care, and love, and guidance to the bride and groom as they made decisions, calmed nerves, and eased hearts with prayers of comfort - trusting the Lord for the outcome and giving Him the day and their marriage.
Heaven-sent florals to drape the backdrop of an emotional first glance during the ceremony. Thin cloud-covered light pouring directly on the two hand-in-hand, with Christ at the center. And the most romantic golden-hour portraits above the lake.
Cheers to the Schaffelds and their perfectly dreamy Saturday in December.
